Nymans Louvre Detail

At Nymans Gardens, Thread were commissioned to deliver the new louvre detailing for the Riding House. The design process involved planning level drawings and a 1:50 model. We then tested 1:1 cardboard models. The level of detail required when restoring these louvres, meant testing and testing again, using any means possible before it got to site.

Thread created one to one mock ups in paper, card and timber, using light testing along the way. This project is a brilliant example of how we work with specialists in specific fields. The strength of this outcome came through working in collaboration with metal workers. By seeking out specialists we,  in turn, level up our own practice.

The final material agreed was a powder coated aluminium created through Western Fabrication’s workshop, with the final shape inspired by the lime tree leaves found on site.
